INTRO: U-S officials have acknowledged at least one death in an apparently mistaken clash with with Iraqi police near the Iraqi town of Fallujah, but officials are not yet confirming any other casualties. Correspondent Scott Bobb reports from Baghdad that local officials say at least nine people were killed in the incident, mostly Iraqi policeman and a Jordanian security guard who were chasing suspected bandits when they ran into U-S forces.
TEXT: A spokesman for the coalition forces in Iraq, U-S Army Specialist Anthony Reinoso, Saturday said the incident occurred while U-S troops were conducting operations against enemy forces. He said the clash damaged a Jordanian hospital and resulted in the death of what he said was "at least" one friendly personnel.

Iraqi officials in Fallujah say U-S soldiers fired on Iraqi security forces who were chasing suspected bandits in the middle of the night. Hours later, two American soldiers were killed and seven wounded in a clash in the nearby town of Ramadi. (signed)
