Basically what they are trying to do is to cause people to run. They want to kill and create chaos. That's the nature of a terrorist.

But he emphasizes the United States and its allies will not be driven out.

They are not going to intimidate America. And they are not going to intimidate the brave Iraqis who are actively participating in securing the freedom of their country.

Mr. Bush spoke at a hastily arranged news conference that focused largely on recent events in Iraq. He said Iraq remains a dangerous place, but stressed once again that progress is being made. (signed)
