Usually 2 or more calendar days worth of news bulletins are packaged together and will appear on this web page depending upon the amount and character of the news. Each page which packages several days of news bulletins has a unique designation in its name, "VOA_n", and a date "01Feb2003". The "n" is a number between 1 and 10, or a bit larger. You can expect the number "1" to contain the first few days of news bulletins for a given month. Then the next number "2" will contain the next few days and so on. Neither the number or the date indicate the exact date of the news bulletins. However the date "01Feb2003" indicates the month of the news bulletins. The entire month of news bulletins is stored under a directory on the server having the date name "01Feb2003". Typically the population of this web page with news bulletins is 1 day later than the report date.

Note: Each news article is set out in 3 colored areas. The yellow area provides the headline. The blue area contains location context, HFY article summary, HFY comment, time and credits, and email/printer and streaming audio Urls. The brown area contains the unaltered news item as originally published by our sources such as VOA, BBC, DOD, and others. Some variation to this format may occur.

Jesus Christ is the answer. He is both an example of what we must be like as humans and he is the facilitator/mediator/interface whereby we can all know and experience the love/caring of God.

VOA -- Logged 06 to 09-Oct-2003

Key and Feature world news articles ( published below the URLs for the VOA scripts ) are those that describe world events that significantly change or establish cultural and social frameworks. Also reported below are news events that characterize the cultural and social frameworks including health, technology and science articles. Sometimes comment sections are added after the event was published and therefore provide the most recent information on that event. In that case the most recent news item is not published unless it adds extensive new knowledge.
Often, much of the news is essentially a repeat under another caption, or a progress report, or reports concerning accusations, coming events, and other verbalizations that will never get into the history books. These kinds of reports are not published below as key or feature articles. Often when the news is full of this sort of thing you will find lists of URLs - usually coming from the VOA home page.

Arafat Installs New Palestinian Gov't, Declares State of Emergency
.

..
Physical Context: Middle East - Palestine & Israel - Jerusalem - Arafat in the Drivers Seat Again

Summary (HFY): Palestinian President Yasser Arafat has installed a new prime minister and cabinet by decree and declared a state of emergency in the Palestinian territories. The move is seen by some observers as an attempt to stop Israel from sending Mr. Arafat into exile, following a Palestinian suicide bombing that killed at least 19 people.

Comment (HFY): All hand picked by Mr. Terror himself. There can be little doubt that Mr. Terror is directly orchestrating what happens within the Palestine region. The Palestinians have chosen for themselves a terrorist environment within which the public at large is brain washed to accept terrorism disguised as freedom fighting. They have been occupied by Israel only because the suicide bombings continue and continue and continue.

Israel should consider an ultimatum based on their complete withdrawal from all these so called occupied regions. They withdraw after announcing the ultimatum. The ultimatum gives the Palestinians one last chance to avoid outright war and complete displacement. If one missile or mortar or suicide bomber or any other hostile act occurs from out of the Palestinian area then Israel should declare a state of war which then legitimizes the destruction of the government of the Palestine region and they can be tried as war criminals by Israel. This is how it would work if Israel was not Israel. But Israel is a state both feared and hated by its surrounding neighbors. The Arab League represents a large group of Arab nations that have a negative perspective of Israel. This is more than a negative perspective it is also a perspective of hatred. This hatred is orchestrated throughout the Arab communities in a variety of ways rooted in Islam and propagated by the clerics of Islam and either tolerated or encouraged by the Muslim governments.

It is to me a great mental puzzle why anyone anywhere would choose hatred as a way of life, as a motivation, as an attitude which drives their behavior and deeds. But it is irrelevant why people live by hatred, the fact remains that they do. I don't agree with the humanitarian organizations and UN philosophies that state if people are all treated with love in the form of medicine, food, clothing, shelter and other physical necessities this hatred would simply pack its bags and leave. They fail to understand that people choose or accept their leaders and the attitudes of these leaders eventually pervade the society governed by those leaders. These Arab nations do not operate a democratic process based on humanitarian rights and opportunities as does the USA or Canada or the UK and others. At some point, removing the leaders will not serve any useful purpose because the people themselves have become the same as their leaders. They think the same way and they feel the same way and they tend to behave the same way. This tends not to happen to the same degree in diverse societies. This social templating has happened in Palestine. Palestinians now think and react to life just as does Mr. Terror - Arafat, the social virus of hatred that attacks those that differ from Islam. The ineffective way the UN operates has given this virus both the opportunity and the time to spread. Now it is too late to reform the Palestinian people. They will continue to elect Islamic militants, it is for them a way of life, sick as this may seem. The sickness that comes from this virus is a form of insanity. Who can reason with the violent? Who can argue with hate?

In point of fact Israel is already involved in a state of war with the Palestine region. It is a limited war like wasVietnam. If one must war they must war to be decisive so that the enemy cannot rise again. The UN has done absolutely nothing to prevent the continuance of violence against Israeli citizens. On the contrary the UN has provided millions upon millions of UN dollars to the Palestinian leadership. The use of this money was not audited. Most every picture of enraged Palestinians is filled with young men chanting revenge and hatred and holding a machine gun. Where did this amazing arsenal come from? I cannot afford a gun let alone the ammunition they shoot every time they get excited about something. Yet there is no shortage of small arms and ammunition. They don't have tanks and jet fighters as do the Israelis and if they did they would be destroyed by the Israelis for good and obvious reasons. So instead, they fight their war as do the terrorists in Iraq with weaponry they can hide but has high destructive value.

The Israeli attempts to destroy these terrorist organizations by assassinating their leaders is not working, it only slows them down. The Palestinian Authority refuses to take the necessary action to dismantle and destroy these terrorist organizations. They claim they don't want a civil war. This is just an excuse. In fact, the Palestinian response to such insistence is a contradiction in purpose for they blame Israel because of the assassinations for the violence coming from these Islamic fundamentalist militant organizations. What does any one expect to happen when such terrorist organizations are to be dismantled and destroyed? These organizations will not voluntarily dismantle because their purpose is quite clearly the destruction of Israel. They have indicated that they will not dismantle. So the only way left to dismantle them is a violent way. Yet the world expects Israel to stand still and be slaughtered.

This lack of understanding, lack of empathy, and lack of resolve can only be an anti semitic attitude and motivation. I personally had thought those days were over. But apparently not. The Palestinians say they want "peace" but they use that word with a double meaning as it was used in the Cold war by Russia and China. It is still used that way by Russia and China. The Palestinians don't want peace first before anything else, they want peace exclusively on their terms. Russia and China also tend to think in this definition of peace. This all has to end somewhere because the dynamics operative in this whole situation in the Middle East are such as to eventually force Israel into some form of national capitulation to the Arab League. From the standpoint of Russia and China they operate in concert and in a mode to capture the oil resources of the world (Russia's part) and batter the American economy by degrading the number and output of the American industrial complex (China's role). The Americans could leave Vietnam and the Vietnamese people to fend for themselves. But this is not the case with Israel, although the terrorists strategy is obviously one designed to hurt the Israeli economy, Israeli social stability, and cause Israelis to leave their country. This is most frustrating and almost unbelievable but simply consider these dynamics and there is no other conclusion. There is a kind of parallel between Pakistan and India over the Kashmir region. There is a core of terrorism that is more or less hosted by Pakistan such that the violence coming out of these terrorist organizations is aimed against India. Pakistan only confronts these militants if they appear to be a threat to Pakistan or in response to American pressures.

What we have to realize is that nations do not necessarily have to have high level meetings in which they conspire to destroy some one or several other nations. As they develop similar attitudes and interests they simply fall in line with one another (as did Germany and France, as did Russia and China, as did the Arab League nations, and so on). Eventually this can result in political bonds and alliances where they agree to protect one another's interests. They act together on common interests and form cliques of nations. But even these cliques of nations can bond together to eliminate one or several other nations if they see that it is in their interest and they believe they can get away with it. This is why we are now seeing a bonding between Saudi Arabia and Russia over oil issues. Saudi Arabia is in a position to influence the entire League of Arab nations. They then can act in financial ways to get rid of the USA and as part of the deal to get rid of Israel and that sort of thing. This may have been the real issue in the USA penetrating the Middle East in order to establish a point of influence equal to or greater than the Russian influence or the EU influence.

Hypothetically, a state of war by Israel could put Palestine in the same position as the Americans put Iraq or Afghanistan. The Americans were forced to take unilateral action with Iraq. The same can be expected of Israel with Palestine. The rationale here is that the Palestinians must be held accountable for violence. There will of course be an outcry regarding the settlements and other issues. These have to be considered negotiable issues not causes for war and violence. If the Palestinian Authority, or the terrorist organizations and mentality they maintain refuse to accept this ultimatum then war is automatically declared. But such a hypothetical official declaration of war is extremely dangerous. This will of course antagonize most of the Arab League and many members in both the UN Security Council as well as the UN General Assembly. This is primarily because their common interests and alliances based on these interests are being threatened. But most of these nations have already isolated Israel in the first place waiting for capitulation in the form of economic failure, social unrest, and a disappearing population that wants to escape the tyranny of terrorism. It can be expected that these nations will all attempt to generate resolutions that not only threaten Israel but also promise some form of military intervention. Unless the USA supports such resolutions there will not be sufficient international will for the UN to send in a military force against Israel which is what the Arab League will insist upon. However, this is not certain. The French and Russian members of the Security Council had told Saddam Hussein the same thing feeling confident that the USA would not and could not take unilateral action and they used their veto to that end. So the assurance emboldened Saddam Hussein and the Americans took unilateral action. The Arab league know they cannot win a war against Israel. They would need the support of other nations.

In addition, the overall attitudes, interests, and alliances are becoming such as to degrade the American economy and with that degradation will be an inability to perform as a super power. When that day comes, if it does, then Israel has no protector.

From a Christian perspective, we must recognize that the creative purpose of God is still active in creation and that as history progresses so does this purpose. That purpose is moderated by the gift of free will given to mankind. But even if the purpose is moderated the purpose is certain. Therefore we should not fear but honor God in all things.
