Since
the UN won't wake up perhaps the Arab countries might. Let's see. Let's give it
a try.
Why don't the Arab nations for just once treat Israel from a
humanitarian perspective. They can always go back to "hate" if the humanitarian
perspective does not work.
Let's consider a few things. These Arab
countries have more land than they need even if they gave 50% of that land
away. It is like Bill Gates giving 50 million dollars to the UN children
effort. The man is worth over 60 billion dollars. The international and nation
wide advertising he got for $50 million was a great deal for both him and
Microsoft. Personally I would be impressed if he gave $50 billion and kept back
50 million for himself. The scenario with this land in the Palestine area is
somewhat of a parallel. No one is asking anyone to do a 50% give away anyway.
Some of the land the Arabs do have is mined for oil and I understand that a
long time ago Israel returned the valued rich oil areas taken during war.
That was nice of them. They could have just held on to it and got filthy
rich but they gave it back because it was one of the few resources of the Arab
nation affected. I always wondered about that. They had potentially hundreds of
billions of dollars in those resources that they had seized. But they gave it
back. Amazing!
Israel has a number of settlements occupying a small
portion of land also taken during a period of war. How much would it hurt these
oil rich barons who have more land than they will ever need, to give up to
Israel the few acres (and maybe some more) upon which they have settlements. I
exaggerate a bit to make a point. Even if these Arab countries do not feel
Israel has a legal right or any other kind of right, wouldn't it be so nice if
they just said to Israel, "We want peace and prosperity for all Arabs so badly
that even though we don't think it is the "right" thing to do from one
perspective, in the interest of peace it may be the "right" thing to do. In the
final analysis we will have to learn how to live side by side anyway." I wonder
if they have such a "charitable" disposition that they could make such an offer
to Israel. Are they really practicing a religion of peace? Isn't that what
it all comes down to.
I'm now going to get religious on all you poor
readers. All things come from God and belong to God even the oil rich land of
the oil barons and the land the Israelites occupy today. No man owns anything.
We just think we do. We are just stewards over what we claim are our
possessions. America does not belong to the Indian population - not one chunk
of it. Someone is going to hate me for this. Nor does it belong to the European
immigrants that emigrated from Europe to live in America - not one chunk of it.
Someone is going to hate me for this. Nor does it belong to anyone who lives in
America - no not one chunk. Someone is going to hate me for this. We are given
things by God to be stewards over these things and to manage them in the
interest of all. That is one of the things that is blatantly wrong in our
western society. We believe so strongly in personal ownership that it can
affect how we share our wealth and resources. But now everyone knows we are not
perfect and we know it, how about the Muslim countries, especially the Arab
ones. Is this a racial issue or for once since World War II maybe they could
display a form of realistic stewardship and help Israel for a change rather
than antagonize Israel.
Also, instead of ganging together like a school
yard gang and picking on the newcomer why don't they show this newcomer the
hand of help, peace, and welcome?
But when we get right down to the
issue of the Palestinians and the Israeli people, the question must inevitably
be asked, "Why do all these other Arab nations show such an intense interest in
the Palestinian situation when none of them have the slightest inclination or
desire to help these people in a real way. Is this a racial thing? Is it racial
and maybe even religious discrimination? We don't allow that in our country. I
guess it is allowed in the world community. None of these nations will allow
any of these Palestinians to immigrate to their countries. None of these oil
barons will build communities in their own countries for these displaced people
called Palestinians. But they have a lot of money and time to commit to
building up major military machines. Isn't that strange. None have offered to
take those in the refugee camps that appear to be the worst off of the lot and
provide them with a home and a secure living in their own countries. They
simply don't want these Palestinians. Isn't that strange. They not only don't
want them they do not really care for them. This public image that the Arab
league presents to the world is that they are "torn" with anguish for the
"poor" Palestinian people as they suffer under some kind of Israeli occupation.
This occupation is just so terrible that these poor terrorist inclined people
will only wait just so long and out comes the hate and the violence. At least
that is what they seem to be telling Mr. Bush. It sounds more like black mail
to me. Meanwhile they condone Mr. Terrorism or more correctly said, Mr. Arafat
as he has trained and armed these "poor" Palestinians and prepared them for a
campaign of hate and destruction upon the Israeli people. And as I said before,
an no one really listens, it is their own children they hurt the worst by
teaching them to model their lives after terrorist martyrs who kill and maim
the innocent civilian.
These are all facts. All these things are
obvious to anyone that objectively stands back and surveys the entire
situation. So what is the real agenda of these Arab nations? If their very
behavior reflects a non caring attitude about the Palestinian people then why
do their words say something entirely different. Are they simply manipulating
world opinion so that the world does not see their true attitudes, feelings,
and objectives. Words are used this way to persuade, deceive, and manipulate,
all the time in the modern world. And the average person still swallows and
believes the words and fails to consider the behavior and the deeds. My my my.
We are such a stupid lot are we not. We believe words in the obvious face of
behavior and deeds that bear no resemblance to the words. How can we be so
thick headed?
There is also another perspective that seems to have
escaped everyone involved. By what right under heaven (or even the UN) does
this "Arab league" have authority and permission to represent the so called
Palestinian people. They are after all, a displaced people. They were never a
nation as the subtle suggestion is always put forward by the "Arab league".
Over many years negotiations have occurred and agreements formed but the
validity of these "arrangements" have now lost their relevance. Time does that
with everything. Did the UN authorize certain Arab nations to be the "voice" of
the Palestinian people? Did the UN authorize Mr. Terrorism to engage the
Palestinian people in terrorism against Israel? It looks to me after watching
this situation in the Middle East from the time I was a child until now, that a
persecuted people who called themselves "Jewish" fled this persecution and
after World War II were authorized by the world community to have a place in
the Middle East that was considered by many of these Jewish people be their
birthright given to them from God. I think this is the same God the Arab
nations worship but maybe I am mistaken. At first when I was much younger I
felt sorry for the Arab population because at that time there was a lot of
Anti-Semitism and people just did not have the facts. I was also awed by how
these Jewish people took the land and made it productive. But now, I think
the facts speak for themselves. Early efforts by the International community to
lay out land boundaries and arrangements and agreements that took place since
that time are simply no longer relevant to the situation. Time does that sort
of thing. Perhaps these early efforts were also naive. It is now an entirely
different age that it was when all these agreements took place. Since they were
not kept, for whatever reason, they were probably not realistically developed
as appropriate to the situation. There has to be something wrong with either
the agreement or the people involved or both when agreement break down and
don't work. I can accept that. What I cannot accept is the "meddling" of the
Arab league and their effort to deceive the world community regarding
firstly their position as "advocate" of these displaced people and
secondly their "secret agenda".
When Mr. Bush refused to release
documents to an enquiry the new media jumped on this as they do all refusals of
information and did not suggest that Mr. Bush had something to hide but
outright accused him of having something to hide and they speculated what it
was he was trying to hide. Whether they are right in such conclusions is not
why I raised the issue. But what is certain is that behavior has a way of
exposing motivation, purpose, and plan. Maybe the news media just
missed the purpose behind the behavior. But it is not that easy to miss the
purpose behind the behavior of the Arab league. They are acting as if they have
a vested interest and that vested interest is not the Palestinian people as is
evident by their behavior with respect to these displaced people.
Call
me suspicious but suspicious is what I am in this case because I have many
years of watching these people behave.
What the Israeli government
wants, even though divided about the issues, if taken at the worst case
scenario, involves a pittance compared to the wealth and land available to
these Arab oil rich nations. Since they involve themselves maybe they should be
giving of themselves. So I am waiting. Waiting to see some genuine charity and
giving coming from these Arab nations towards the nation of Israel.
