.Your Mind

The human mind is the most important aspect of our being. How we think and what we think determines our behavior and our deeds or accomplishments in life - even our eternal state. Our character is the personality that others experience when interacting with us. This character is a derivative of our mind and our very thoughts. As Christians we are to be transformed into the likeness of the mind and character of Jesus Christ.

The bible and especially the New Testament teach that we are responsible for the state of our mind and how our mind applies itself to the problems and challenges of life.

Think about it!

Possible 35-hundred Liberians fled to Guinea

The United Nations refugee agency says it is concerned by reports that 35-hundred Liberians have fled recently to Guinea. Dale Gavlak reports from Geneva.

U-N-H-C-R says this is the largest single movement of Liberian refugees into Guinea in years. And it says it fears as many as 10-thousand more may follow this initial surge of asylum seekers with fighting continuing in the Liberian town of Gbarnga.

The refugee agency reports that nearly 300 Liberians have also sought shelter in neighboring Ivory Coast.

Millicent Mutuli of the U-N-H-C-R says no one ever knows when the next strike will be in Liberia's guerilla war and this is causing many to panic and flee.

There is a sense that there is movement of thousands of people in all directions, which is why we are seeing people showing up in Cote d'Ivoire and Guinea. But there are people also still showing up in Monrovia. We know that there are people going into refugee camps and some of the refugee camps have doubled in number. So there is a sense that there is still a lot of displacement.

Ms. Mutuli says Liberian refugees entering Guinea are still scattered in villages in the southeast of the country around Yomou. But she says the U-N-H-C-R is trying to set up more camps to accommodate the refugee influx.

Many of them say that a lot of men have been conscripted by rebel forces either as fighters or as carrier corps so you are seeing then more and more arrivals of women and children.

Last week, fighting intensified between rebels and troops loyal to Liberian President Charles Taylor. Government troops say they managed to ward off rebels closing in on the capital, Monrovia, on Monday.

The rebels accuse Mr. Taylor of destabilizing West Africa. The U-N Security Council has placed sanctions, including an arms embargo, on Liberia.

World events are historic steps in the purpose and plan of God. The outcome of history is up to man - restricted only by sovereign limits imposed by God. The future events are consequences resulting from mankind exercising the gift of intelligence and free will in response to situations developing from past events. This human response is either synchronized to His Will or in rebellion to His Will. Behavior is either the manifestation of love or it's opposite - hate. As Christians we should be involved through loving (caring attitude and behavior for others) actions empowered by prayer, understanding, and submission to His Will.
