May 2002 Explosion Rocks Russian Town, Killing 32 VOA News 9 May 2002 14:16 UTC
The land mine exploded in the midst of a military parade Thursday in the town of Kaspiisk, located on the Caspian Sea, just south of the capital of the Russian republic of Dagestan. Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the blast as a terrorist act and said those responsible will be punished. After giving a speech during Victory Day celebrations in Moscow, he convened an emergency session of his top law enforcement officials. Dagestan is frequently the scene of small-scale bombings that Russian officials often blame on a spillover of violence from the war against separatist rebels in Chechnya. Meanwhile in Chechnya, rebels fired on a stadium in the capital, Grozny, where Russian forces and Chechen civilians were celebrating the 57th anniversary of the end of World War II. Media reports say that although grenades fell outside the stadium in the attack, ceremonies inside were disrupted. Some information for this report provided by AP and AFP.

World events are historic steps in the purpose and plan of God. The outcome of history is up to man - restricted only by sovereign limits imposed by God. The future events are consequences resulting from mankind exercising the gift of intelligence and free will in response to situations developing from past events. This human response is either synchronized to His Will or in rebellion to His Will. Behavior is either the manifestation of love or it's opposite - hate. As Christians we should be involved through loving (caring attitude and behavior for others) actions empowered by prayer, understanding, and submission to His Will. | |||||||||
