Israeli reports say a
suicide bomber has blown himself up at an Israeli military checkpoint in the
West Bank. Initial reports say there are some casualties in addition to the
bomber.
The attack came as
Israel and the Palestinian Authority were to hold a security meeting that
Israel cancelled Thursday after a Palestinian suicide bomber in Jerusalem
killed three Israelis and wounded 40 others.
Israel says it
accepted a request from the United States to resume the talks, chaired by U.S.
special envoy Anthony Zinni.
General Zinni met
with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in the West Bank town of Ramallah earlier
Friday. After Thursday's bombing, Mr. Arafat promised immediate steps to halt
such attacks against Israeli civilians.
