China's annual two-week session of Parliament has wrapped up in Beijing. Afterward, Prime Minister Zhu Rongji held what could be his last news conference before a crucial leadership transtion. He is to step down from his communist party post this year and from his government post next year. Mr. Zhu brushed aside several questions from reporters about who will succeed him when he retires. Thomas Bernstein ('burn-steen) of Columbia University has examined the report presented by Mr. Rhu at the Parliamentary session. The professor spoke about his impressions with VOA's Susan Yackee.
