The Hong Kong-based Far Eastern Economic Review magazine says it has apologized to Thailand for an article that provoked authorities to order the expulsion of two of its journalists.
The publication says a letter was delivered Monday to the president of the Thai parliament, expressing regret for any misunderstandings caused by the article, although the letter does not say the story was inaccurate.
The January 10 article alleged there have been tensions between Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and Thailand's king. It prompted Thai authorities to revoke the visas and work permits of American Shawn Crispin and Briton Rodney Tasker.
It is unclear if the apology letter will affect the status of the two journalists, who were accused of threatening national security. The order to expel the journalists has been criticized by both local and international media watchdog groups.
The January 10 issue of the Far Eastern Economic Review was banned in Thailand.
