The U.S. State Department has reaffirmed its travel warning to U.S. citizens traveling to Pakistan, following the brutal murder of kidnapped American journalist Daniel Pearl. Saturday's warning says American citizens in Pakistan generally have been targeted for kidnapping or other terrorist actions.

It says Pakistani public sympathy for the Taleban and al-Qaida appears to have lessened, but still exists. It also says Americans traveling within Pakistan should take appropriate security measure because of the presence of militant groups there.

The State Department report says Pakistan's government continues to give full support to the international campaign against terrorism. But it also says there are areas of the country where non-Pakistanis must first obtain official permission before traveling to them.
