Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has called for his country's withdrawal from the Arab league and rejected a Saudi peace plan for the Middle East.

Mr. Gadhafi made the comments in a televised speech Saturday as he marked the 25th anniversary of the Libyan Arab Republic.

During his speech, Mr. Gadhafi said his country will recognize Israel on several conditions, including the removal of weapons of mass destruction from the entire region and holding free and fair general elections.

The Cairo-based Arab League said Mr. Gadhafi's comments have prompted an urgent visit to Libya by Secretary-General Amr Moussa.
