Two bombs exploded beneath empty tourist buses in Thailand in the town of Hat Yai late Saturday, but no casualties were reported.
Police officials in the southern town say the buses were parked outside a hotel when the bombs exploded. Passengers had already left the two vehicles. The police say one of the buses had been carrying tourists from Malaysia; the other was transporting Thai passengers.
Police officials are quoted as saying the devices appeared to be designed to make more noise than damage.
There is no information on who placed the bombs, but the French news agency says suspicion is likely to center on Muslim militants operating in the region.
