U.S. pop singer Britney Spears has just joined several other modern-day temptresses such as Russian tennis player Anna Kournikova and Latin singer Jennifer Lopez as an Internet virus.

A new e-mail making the rounds worldwide gives as its subject line "Britney Pictures" with the teaser "Take a Look at these..."

It is in fact a computer virus that when opened self-replicates to other e-mails, but experts say it appears to be harmless.

The Lopez and Kournikova viruses also promised pictures. This virus-spreading technique is known as social engineering whereby users are teased into opening malicious files.
