Ferrari cars have claimed the front row for racing's Formula One season-opening event, the Australian Grand Prix. Rubens Barrichello is on the pole, edging out teammate and World Champion driver Michael Schumacher.

Barrichello sped around the track (1:25.843) in Melbourne Saturday, just .005 quicker than Schumacher.

The Brazilian pole-sitter for Sunday's race qualified with the fastest lap ever on the circuit before rain began to fall, slowing those trying to catch him.

Germany's Michael Schumacher finished just ahead of his younger brother Ralf, who was driving a Williams.
