In the National Hockey League, Buffalo defenseman Rhett Warrener says he was just trying to make a pass when the puck deflected off an opponent's stick and into the net for a game winning score.

The host Sabres beat the Boston Bruins, 4-3, Friday on Warrener's goal, scored with under four minutes remaining in regulation.

Atlanta's Yannick Tremblay scored two goals, including the game winner with three minutes left, to give the host Thrashers a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders.

The New Jersey Devils scored on their first two shots on the way to doubling the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-2.

In the only other NHL game Friday, the Tampa Bay Lightning used three second-period goals to defeat visiting San Jose, 4-2, and snap the Sharks' seven-game winning streak.
