Torrential rains have triggered widespread flooding in the Indonesian capital, leaving at least 12 people dead since Saturday and forcing thousands to flee their homes.

Officials say waters have reached up to two meters deep in some areas of Jakarta, prompting schools to close and paralyzing air, road and rail transport. Tens of thousands of homes are said to have been lost.

Authorities say rubber rafts have been dispatched to the worst-affected districts, many of which are cut off by the rising waters.

Meanwhile, at least three people are dead and several are still missing after a flood-triggered landslide on the resort island of Bali Tuesday.
