Clifford Robinson hit a 5.8-meter jump shot with less than 20 seconds remaining, as the Detroit Pistons beat host Washington Wizards 89-86 in National Basketball Association action Tuesday night.

Robinson's shot made it 88-86, and both Chris Whitney and Hubert Davis missed shots that could have tied it for the Wizards in the closing seconds. Washington then fouled the Pistons Chucky Atkins, who made one of two free throws before time expired.

Michael Jordan led the Wizards with 32 points.

In Cleveland, Wesley Person scored 27 points and Andre Miller added 17 and 12 assists, as the host Cavaliers ended a 12-game losing streak with a 114-81 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

It was Cleveland's most lopsided win this season and the team's biggest since beating Charlotte by 33 in January of 1997.
