Vaclav Havel

Czech President Vaclav Havel has set June 14 and 15 as the dates for the country's next parliamentary elections.

Czech voters will go to the polls to elect 200 members of the powerful lower house of parliament.

Mr. Havel had suggested holding the vote in May. But he said he gave in to the wishes of the country's main political parties and agreed to schedule the vote in June.
