In National Hockey League action, Jason Arnott, Patrick Elias and Bobby Hoyik scored to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 3-1 road victory over the New York Islanders.

It was the first game for new Devils coach Kevin Constantine, who replaced the fired Larry Robinson. Constantine last coached the Pittsburgh Penguins before being fired during the 1999-2000 season.

In Toronto, Bryan McCabe had two goals and an assist, as the host Maple Leafs beat the San Jose Sharks 4-3.

Jonus Honglund and Travis Green also scored for the Maple Leafs, who won for just the third time in 11 games.
