Lawyers for an alleged Australian member of the al-Qaida terrorist network say they plan to challenge their client's detention at the U.S. navy base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Attorney Stephen Kenny told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation a case will be brought in a U.S. court to test the legality of the U.S. military's detention of David Hicks.
Mr. Hicks is among the alleged al-Qaida fighters imprisoned at Camp X-Ray in Guantanamo Bay.
Mr. Hicks, a 26-year-old Islamic convert, was captured in December while he was fighting with the Taleban in Afghanistan.
