European share prices are higher in midday trading.
In London, the Financial Times Index is up 45 points at 5,238, while in Paris the Cac 40 Index is up 57 points at 4,542. The Dax Index in Frankfurt is up 31 points at 5,188.
In New York, the S&P futures contract is up 0.1 point, indicating a slightly higher open for U.S. stocks.
Earlier in Tokyo, the Nikkei Index closed nearly 1 percent higher, at 10,221. The Nikkei also gained nearly 1 percent Friday.
The price of gold in London is up $1.05, at $280.05 an ounce.
The dollar is mixed against other major currencies.
