Officials in Kazakhstan say Prime Minister Kasymzhomart Tokayev has resigned. No reason was given for Mr. Tokayev's resignation. He had been prime minister since October of 1999.

All members of Mr. Tokayev's government resigned along with him, as required by the Kazakh constitution.

A government spokesman says President Nursultan Nazarbayev has accepted the resignations.

Mr. Nazarbayev has ruled Kazakhstan for nearly 12 years. He has been president since 1991.
