Japanes Share Prices Close Higher VOA News 28 Jan 2002 09:16 UTC 
The U.S. dollar slipped against the yen Monday afternoon, while prices on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed higher.
In Tokyo, the dollar ended the trading day at 133.85 yen, down .83 yen from Friday afternoon and below its late Friday level of 134.27 yen in New York.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei Average gained 77 points to finish at 10,221 points. On Friday, the average gained 70 points.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose 10-cents to close at $279.75 an ounce.
