At least 16 people are feared dead and four were injured after a landslide triggered by torrential rains buried a communal longhouse in eastern Malaysia.
The official Bernama news agency says the landslide occurred during the hours of darkness early Monday in the Simunjan district of Sarawak state on Borneo island.
Police say an unknown number of people were trapped in the mud.
Longhouses are communal dwellings unique to some tribal groups in Borneo. Several families can live in one building, which traditionally has a communal living area and separate space for each family.
