Three Bogota police officers were killed Friday when a lunchtime bomb exploded in a restaurant in the Colombian capital's Fatima district.
Police are investigating the cause of the bombing, for which no one has yet claimed responsibility. The explosion came after a recent series of terrorist attacks. Authorities are reported by Reuters to believe that Columbia's largest Marxist guerrilla group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC), may be involved. FARC has claimed responsibility in recent weeks for numerous attacks.
The attacks have taken place despite efforts by the government and FARC to reach a cease fire agreement by April 7. Despite that, FARC has vowed to continue its offensive, which has been underway for 38 years. The conflict has killed at least 40,000 people in the past decade alone.
