Most Asian Stock Markets Close Higher

Most Asian stock markets closed higher Wednesday, with the key market in Tokyo gaining after the Japanese Central Bank endorsed government moves to stimulate the ailing economy.
Tokyo's Nikkei surged 3.6 percent (370 points), to close at 10,573. The Nikkei fell nearly 1 percent Tuesday.
Hong Kong's key index, the Hang Seng, gained nearly 1 percent (102 points), to finish at 10,648. The Hang Seng rose a fraction of 1 percent Tuesday.
Elsewhere, share prices surged in Bangkok and Seoul, while markets in Bangkok, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur registered smaller gains. Share prices also rose in Singapore and Taipei. Share prices were lower Sydney, Wellington and Bombay.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 134.46 yen in Tokyo, up 0.41 yen from late Tuesday in Tokyo, but below its late Tuesday New York level of 134.64 yen.
Hong Kong gold rose $4.40, to close at $297.25 an ounce.
