Former National Basketball Association star Jayson Williams surrendered Monday and was charged with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a limousine driver at his mansion in Kingwood, New Jersey.
Williams' attorney, Joseph Hayden, said his client was charged in the death of Costas Christofi and released on bail.
The 55-year-old Christofi was found shot to death at William's estate on February 14. Published reports have said that Williams was playfully twirling a shotgun while giving a tour of his home when the weapon fired. Hayden has denied there was any horseplay.
Christofi had been hired to drive Williams' friends from a charity event in Pennsylvania to Williams' home. His death was originally ruled a suicide. After an autopsy, the medical examiner ruled the shooting a homicide.
