The Lebanese army said Tuesday it has arrested three men suspected of spying for Israel.
An army statement said the men were arrested after investigations uncovered a spy ring working for the Israel.
The men have been identified as Imad Hussein al-Ruz, a director at a Beirut hospital; Muhammad Abdel Aziz Abi Melhem, a former senior bank official; and businessman Radwan Khalil al-Haj.
The statement said the men gave Israeli officers information on Lebanese and Syrian military positions, as well as data on the activities of Hezbollah and some Lebanese political figures. The alleged spies are also accused of providing information on Lebanon's economic and financial institutions.
The Lebanese army statement does not say when and where the men were arrested and does not list their nationalities.
Lebanon is officially in a state of war with Israel.
