The U.S. ambassador in Islamabad, Wendy Chamberlin, met Tuesday with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf to discuss the possibility of extraditing Islamic militant Ahmed Omar Sheikh. No details of the talks were available.

The British-born Islamic militant, popularly known as Sheikh Omar, is also wanted in the United States in connection with the kidnapping of an American citizen in 1994 in India.

On Monday, President Bush said he would like to see Mr. Pearl's suspected abductor brought to the United States.

Earlier this month, Sheikh Omar said he is responsible for Mr. Pearl's abduction. A week later, Pakistani investigators received a grisly videotape that showed Mr. Pearl's throat being slit. The tape gives no indication as to when or where he was killed.

Some information for this report provided by AFP.
