Indian golfer Arjun Atwal has grabbed the lead heading into Sunday's final round of the Singapore Masters golf tournament after firing a 5-under-par, 67.
Atwal is at 10-under (206) for a one-shot lead over second-round leader Nick O'Hern of Australia, who bogeyed the final two holes Saturday to finish with a 72. Another shot back is American Jim Johnson, who also managed par in the third round on the Laguna National Golf course.
British star Nick Faldo, the winner of six major titles, shot a disappointing 73, but remains in contention four shots off the lead while looking for his first win in five years.
The 28-year-old Atwal, who combined seven birdies with two bogeys Saturday, is in his first year on the European Tour, but has three Asian Tour victories.
Sweden's Richard Johnson won a new car, a Volkswagen Beetle Turbo, when his tee shot on the par-three 17th landed in the cup. He is tied for ninth place, one shot behind Faldo, after a round that included the eagle hole-in-one to go with five birdies and four bogeys.
In Women's golf, Webb Is Tied for Lead in Australian Ladies Masters.
Australian Karrie Webb is one round away from achieving a first in all of professional golf, winning the same tournament five straight years.
Webb is tied for the lead heading into Sunday's final round of the Australian Ladies Masters tournament in Gold Coast. Her 4-under-par, 68 in the third round Saturday on the Royal Pines course leaves her tied with German Elisabeth Esterl at 10-under (206). A bogey on the final hole prevented Webb from taking the lead outright.
Alone in third, two shots off the pace, is Australian Michelle Ellis, followed closely by Annika Sorenstam of Sweden and Italian Silvia Cavalleri tied for fourth.
By winning the event last year, Webb joined Gene Sarazen, Walter Hagen, Laura Davies, and 19th century British golfer Tom Morris as the winners of the same tournaments four times in a row.
