In a battle of the two best records so far this season in the National Basketball Association, the Dallas Mavericks beat the visiting Sacramento Kings 111-97 on Saturday.
Dallas was led by Dirk Nowitzki with 21 rebounds and 26 points, while Steve Nash netted 28 points. Chris Webber led the Kings with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Sacramento has now lost three of its last four games, but sill has the best record in the NBA at 40 wins and 15 losses.
Houston's Cuttino Mobley scored 40 points as the Rockets rallied from 20 points down to beat the visiting Boston Celtics 99-89. Orlando's Tracy McGrady had 22 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to boost the host Magic to a 105-87 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Chicago Bulls have their first three-game winning streak in two years behind Marcus Fizer's career-high 30 points in a 105-91 victory over the visiting Golden State Warriors. Here in Washington, Brian Grant hit a five-meter shot with a second remaining to give the Miami Heat a 97-95 decision over the Wizards, who were led by Michael Jordan with 37 points.
In the other NBA games Saturday, Indiana's Reggie Miller scored a season-high 28 points to help the host Pacers down the Los Angeles Clippers 106-88. Minnesota's Kevin Garnett had 30 points and 11 rebounds for the Timberwolves in their 112-88 win over the Spurs in San Antonio. And, the Portland Trail Blazers are on a five-game winning streak after easing past the visiting Denver Nuggets 101-90.
