Russian Mikhail Ivanov has been awarded the gold medal in the men's 50-kilometer cross-country ski race that was held Saturday.

Ivanov had placed second to Johan Muelegg of Spain, who was disqualified Sunday after the International Olympic Committee said he failed a drug test.

Andrus Veerpalu of Estonia moves up to the silver medal while Odd-Bjoern Hjelmeset added a bronze medal to Norway's total.

With the disqualification of Russian Larissa Lazutina for doping, the women's 30-kilometer classical style cross-country event gold medal goes to Gabriella Paruzzi.

The Italian originally placed second behind Lazutina Saturday. But now her time of one hour, 30 minutes, 57.1 seconds is the fastest time of the race.

Italian teammate Stefania Belmondo moves up to the silver medal (1:31:01.6). Bente Skari of Norway took the bronze (1:31:36.3).
