Defending champion Nicolas Escude of France won his second straight World Indoor Tennis Tournament on Sunday with a tough win over Tim Henman of Britain.
Unseeded Escude dropped the first set 3-6 to his sixth-seeded foe in Rotterdam (Netherlands) before coming back to take a second-set tie-breaker 9-7, then he went on to win the deciding set 6-4.
In other tennis news, Teenager Andy Roddick beat American Davis Cup teammate James Blake in the final of the Saint Jude tournament in Memphis, Tennessee.
Second-seeded Roddick earned his fourth title in four finals since April with ( 6-4, 3-6, 7-5) three-set win over number eight Blake.
Meanwhile, Chile's Nicolas Massu stormed back from near defeat to dominate Argentina's Agustin Calleri in the deciding third set Sunday, taking the Buenos Aires Open for his first win on the tennis tour.
Massu dropped the first set 2-6, and was trailing 1-5 in the second when he survived two match points and came back to win a 7-5 tie-breaker, and a 6-2 deciding set.
The two finalists were unseeded players. Such stars as Gustavo Kuerten, Nicolas Lapentti and Marcelo Rios fell in early rounds.
