The Thai government has ordered two foreign journalists to leave the country, accusing them of threatening national order.
The immigration department has canceled the visas of American Shawn Crispin and Briton Rodney Rasker, who work for the Hong Kong-based Far Eastern Economic Review magazine, which is owned by the U.S. company Dow Jones.
The Thai government says the expulsion order is a matter of national security, but the two journalists deny this and are appealing the move.
The government action follows a January 10 article in the magazine that alleged tensions between Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and Thailand's constitutional monarch King Bhumibol Adulyadej. That issue of the magazine was banned in Thailand.
Local and international press watchdogs say expelling the journalists could harm Thailand's image.
