Stocks Gain in Tokyo VOA News 22 Feb 2002 09:55 UTC 
The U.S. dollar rose against the Japanese yen Friday, while prices on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed higher.
At mid-afternoon in Tokyo, the dollar was trading at 134.10 yen, up 0.34 yen from late Thursday, but below its late New York level of 134.20 yen.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei Average rose 61 points to finish at 10,357 points. On Thursday, the average gained 461 points (nearly 5 percent).
In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose $2.80 to close at $293.95 an ounce.
