Japan will use underwater cameras to investigate the wreck of a suspected North Korean spy boat that sank in a shootout with the Japanese coast guard in December.
In a five-day operation, scheduled to begin Monday, a coast guard vessel will locate the sunken vessel with sonar sweeps and then lower a camera for a closer look.
The coast guard fired on the vessel after it intruded into Japan's exclusive economic zone and ignored orders to stop. The suspicious boat sank in Chinese waters on December 22 with the loss of about 15 crew members.
