Australia will deploy fighter jets to shoot down any aircraft that threaten to attack a Commonwealth leaders' summit next month.

The summit is scheduled to be held the first week of March under heavy security in the coastal resort of Coolum in Queensland state.

Defense Minister Robert Hill said Friday that F/A-18 fighter jets will be used to enforce airspace restrictions as part of a security operation involving 2,400 defense personnel.
