Asian Markets Mostly Lower

Asian stock markets closed mostly lower Friday, with the key market in Tokyo bucking the trend and rising slightly.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained more than half of 1 percent (61 points), to close at 10,357. The Nikkei gained nearly 5percent Thursday.
Hong Kong's key index, the Hang Seng, fell more than 1 percent (124 points), to finish at 10,665. The Hang Seng rose slightly Thursday.
Elsewhere, share prices were lower in Manila, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and Sydney. Prices closed higher in Wellington, Seoul and Bombay.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 134.10 yen in Tokyo, up 0.34 yen from late Thursday in Tokyo, but below its late-Thursday New York level of 134.20 yen.
The price of gold in Hong Kong rose $2.80, to close at $293.95 an ounce.
