Indonesian police have transferred the youngest son of former President Suharto to Jakarta's largest criminal prison to await trial on charges of murder.

Policemen carrying automatic rifles escorted Tommy Suharto from a police detention center Wednesday to the Cipinang prison.

Prosecutors say he will be charged with ordering the murder of a Supreme Court judge who had sentenced him in September of 2000 to 18 months in prison for corruption.

Tommy Suharto spent more than a year on the run after the sentence was handed down, before being captured last November.

His graft conviction was overturned last October. It is unclear when he will go on trial for murder. Media reports say he could also be charged with illegal possession of weapons.
