European Football to Resume this Week

After a two-month winter break Europe's top football teams will be back in action this week, as the Champions League and UEFA Cup tournaments resume on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Group-D is the tightest of the four Champions League groups, with Juventus, Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen and Deportivo la Coruna all within three points. Barca leads Group-B with four points, while Roma and Galatasaray have two and Liverpool has one. Liverpool hosts Turkey's Galatasary at Anfield on Wednesday, seeking its first second phase win. In Group-A, Nantes faces a Manchester United team with a fit David Beckham, who has recovered from an ankle injury. Wednesday's match is the first Champions League game for new Nantes coach Angel Marcos. But, Nantes, at the bottom of the group, has no points and never beaten an English team. In Group-A's other match, Bayern Munich plays Boavista. Real Madrid is at the top of Group-C with six points, followed by Sparta Prague with three and Porto and Panathinaikos with one each. Madrid plays Porto while Sparta hosts Panathinaikos on Tuesday. The fourth round of the UEFA Cup is played Tuesday and Thursday, with 16 teams in contention.
