A court in Thailand has sentenced the young widow of a Thai prince to six years in prison for poisoning her husband so she could run away with her lover.
Chalasai Choopwa wept when Thailand's Criminal Court found her guilty of manslaughter for the August 1995 killing of Prince Thitiphand Yugala.
Chalasai had confessed to police that she laced her 60-year-old husband's coffee with insecticide soon after their marriage. But she retracted her confession during the trial, saying she was confused during the interrogation.
Chalasai married her lover soon after her husband's death.
Her lawyers say she will appeal the court's decision.
