Japanese golfer Toru Taniguchi takes a one-stroke lead into the third round Saturday at the the Nissan Open outside Los Angeles, California.
The 34-year-old Taniguchi says he is very happy and surprised to be in the lead after firing a four-under-par 67 Friday for a nine-under (133) total midway through the event.
One shot back are Americans Brad Faxon, Len Mattiace and Scott McCarron along with first-round leader Jesper Parnevik of Sweden.
American Bob Tway is alone in sixth place, two shots off the lead.
Taniguchi is known as the "Japanese Tiger" for his fist-pumping celebrations, similar to world-number-one player Tiger Woods, who is skipping this event.
