A Kenyan lion which baffled experts last month by playing mother to a baby antelope, has adopted yet another of the animals.

Witnesses at Kenya's Samburu Game reserve say the lioness had been seen this week walking with and showing affection to a baby oryx - a type of - antelope - as if it were her own cub.

The same lion had adopted a baby oryx last month. Wardens at the park say the lioness also treated that cub as if it were its own. It even allowing the animal to return to its natural mother, who stayed at a safe distance, to feed.

The first adoption ended badly, however, when the baby animal was killed and eaten by another lion as its adopted mother slept. Wardens at the park are working to prevent this latest adoptee from meeting a similar fate.
