Norwegian Ole Einar Bjoerndalen has won the gold medal in the men's biathlon twelve and a half kilometers category. The win makes him the first triple gold medalist of the 2002 games. Bjoerndalen also won gold in the 20-kilometer race and 10 kilometer sprint.
Norwegian Kjetil Andre Aamodt won his second gold medal of the Winter Games with a victory in the men's super-G. Austrian favorite Stephan Eberharter finished second, taking the silver medal. And another Austrian, Andreas Schifferer, won the bronze.
As the second week of competition starts Saturday four additional gold medals are to be awarded in speed skating, alpine skiing and the women's biathlon 10-kilometers.
The Norwegians are now tied for third in the medals race with 12, pulling them even with Austria. With its biathlon bronze, Germany has won the most overall medals at 17 and the United States is second with 14.
