American golfer Scott McCarron has eagled the 17th hole to take a one-shot lead into Sunday's final round of the Nissan Open outside Los Angeles.
McCarron fired his second straight 6-under-par 65 on Saturday for a three-round total of 14-under (199). He sank a 16-meter putt on the Riviera Country Club course to take the lead heading to the 18th hole.
Alone in second place is second-round leader Toru Taniguchi of Japan.
He is followed by American Len Mattiace, two shots off the lead, while South African Rory Sabbatini and American Brad Faxon are tied for fourth place. They are three shots behind McCarron, who is looking for his fourth career title.
Meanwhile, Bruce Fleisher has a one-stroke lead over Tom Kite heading into the final round Sunday of the Senior Golf Tour Verizon Classic in Lutz, Florida.
Fleisher shot a 6-under-par 65 Saturday for a two-round total of 11-under (131).
