Italy's Daniela Ceccarelli Wins Olympic Women's Super Giant Slalom

Italian skier Daniela Ceccarelli has won the first major race of her life to take the Olympic gold medal in the the Olympic women's super giant slalom in Snowbasin.

Ceccarelli is a military policewoman who has rarely finished in the top five at World Cup races. But Sunday she completed the Wildflower course in one minute and 13.59 seconds, to edge combined gold medalist Janica Kostelich of Croatia by .05 second (1:13.64).

Kostelich picked up the silver medal while Italy's Karen Putzer finished just .37 off the winning pace to claim the bronze (1:13.86).
