European share prices are mixed at midday.
In London the Financial Times Index is up a fraction of a point at 5,183, but in Paris the CAC 40 is down three points at 4,374. The DAX in Frankfurt is 29 points higher at 4,892.
U.S. markets are closed Monday for the Presidents Day holiday.
Earlier in Tokyo, the Nikkei Index rose 45 points to close at 10,093, while in Hong Kong the Hang Seng Index picked up 41 points to end the day at 11,003.
The price of gold in London is $298.50 an ounce, down $1.35.
The dollar is higher against the other major currencies.
