Nandor Hidegkuti, one of the all-time greats of Hungarian soccer, has died of heart failure at the age of 80.

Hidegkuti was a center forward during Hungary's golden age of football in the 1950s, and was a member of the Olympic winning team of 1952. He scored 39 international goals, including three in Hungary's 6 to 3 victory over England at Wembley Stadium in 1953. He saw action for Hungary 68 times between 1945 to 1958. Hidegkuti won Hungarian championships in 1951, 1953 and 1958 with Budapest's MTK team. As a coach, he won the European Cup-Winners' Cup in 1961 with Fiorentina in Italy and a Hungarian league title with Gyori ETO.
