Nine South African farm workers were killed and at least 47 others injured when a truck over turned on highway in South Africa's Northern Province Tuesday night.

A police spokesman says an eight ton truck loaded with farm workers and potatoes overturned when the driver lost control at an intersection. Eight women and one man were killed. The truck's driver was among those injured.

Police say they are still investigating the cause of the accident.
