Spanish golf star Jose Maria Olazabal has come from behind to win the Buick Invitational in La Jolla, California, posting a seven-under-par 65 Sunday for a one-shot victory.

Olazabal had four birdies on the final six holes to head into the clubhouse with the lead, where he anxiously watched J.L. Lewis try to force a playoff. Lewis missed a par putt from less than two meters to hand the win to Olazabal, his sixth career PGA victory, and first since the 1999 Masters. Olazabal now has 22 international titles. His four-round total of 13-under-par (275) was one shot better than Americans Lewis and Mark O'Meara.

John Daly was alone in 4th place, while Tiger Woods ended in a three-way tie for fifth after a final round 66. South African Rory Sabbatini and American Bob Estes joined Woods at 10-under (278). Woods has yet to win on the tour this year.

Hale Irwin birdied two of the last three holes to pass Tom Watson and win the Senior PGA event in Naples, Florida, by one stroke.
